Code Of Ethics For Members

I/We shall ensure at all times that any dog under my care and control is adequately housed. Provide sufficient food and drink, exercise and receive proper veterinary attention if and when required.

I/We should not allow any dog under my care to roam at large, and when on public display or away from my home, ensure that they are kept fully leashed, crated or under effective control at all times.

I/We should breed only for the purpose of improving the standard and not for other commercial purposes.

I/We should not knowingly permit any of my purebred dogs to be mated to a dog of a different breed, to a crossbred dog or any other dog of the same breed not registered with the ANKC.

I/We should not sell or otherwise transfer from my care any puppy under (8) weeks of age, thus allowing for the vaccinations to be given and the necessary time for the vaccine to take effect.

I/We should ensure that all persons acquiring dogs from me/us clearly understand their responsibility for the care and welfare of the animal and that they have the time and facilities (i.e adequate fencing, sufficient room and proper shelter etc.) to perform their obligations.

I/We should provide all purchasers of dogs placed by me with written details of all dietary and immunisation requirements and/or an appropriate publication relating to such requirements and responsible dog ownership.

I/We shall not knowingly sell any dog to commercial dog wholesalers, retail pet dealers, or directly or indirectly allow a dog to be given as a prize or donation in any contest of any kind.

I/We shall not misrepresent the characteristics of the breed, nor falsely advertise or mislead any person regarding the performance of any dog, breeder or kennel.

And further, I/We do fully understand that any infringement of the points may result in my/our membership being cancelled at the discretion of the QBC Committee.
